CSS Speech Bubble (YouTube) | A very easy-to-follow video from Codecourse that shows how to create a speech bubble with CSS, including explanation on why the code works the way it does. |
3 Steps: Simple Responsive CSS Speech Bubbles | From Code Boxx. I used this along with the YouTube video above to create the speech bubble on my home/hello page. |
HTML & CSS | Book by Jon Duckett (2014). I borrowed this for free from my library and your library probably has a copy of it, too. I read the entire thing cover-to-cover and took notes on everything that I wanted to implement. There's also Duckett's website, where you can see the code samples in your broswer. This book is very accessible and beginner-friendly, even if a little bit outdated. Highly recommend. |
Javascript & jQuery | Another book by Jon Duckett (2014). I also have access to this book for free through my library. I'm currently reading this book (on chapter 3 as of 8/9/2024) and hope to implement javascript into my website soon! |
Feed Validator | Check for any errors in your XML file for your RSS feed. This site offers suggestions for improvement if needed. |
Simple Lightbox (JavaScript-free!) | No need to target="_blank" to force your visitors to open new windows to see full-size pics! This is some super simple code. |
Piclog | Minimalist status update site and widget for your site, with the addition of deliciously crunchy jpegs. |
Status.Cafe | Minimalist status update site and widget for your site; text-only. |
Teacake Hosting | idk anything about this yet, just saw it on someone else's website. I don't use or endorse them or anything. |
W3 Schools | I seem to have a tab of this site open whenever I'm editing my code. This is the mother lode of coding tutorials. |
Zonelets | Build a blog for your site. |

Gif Cities | Various old school gifs. |
Google Fonts | I use Chicle, Margarine, and Dosis. |
Neocities | Yogo Magpie was built on Neocities! |
Pixel Space Background Generator | By Deep-Fold. This is what I used to generate my starry background. I kept mine simple (stars only) but with this tool you can also add planets and nebulas/space dust. There's great selection of default color palettes to choose from or you can customize your own color palette. |
Pokémon Database | Where the pokemon sprites above are from. Except for the thiccorita. Aaron pixeled that himself. |
