In October 2023, when I was in the midst of juggling a full-time job with half-time of graduate classes, I was frustrated that I did not have time to spend on my hobbies and interests. The semester was not even halfway over and I was already feeling burned out. I don't know how it happened, but I turned to nail polish. It was the one nice thing I did for myself. On Sunday evenings, I would take about an hour to shape and paint my nails while watching (listening) to YouTube videos. I slowly built my polish collection, scouring Reddit Laqueristas to seek out the next colors for my wish list. I have a decent number of bottles now, but I did stop buying in mid-spring because I didn't want it to get out of control.
Here are some of the polishes I own!
Cirque Colors
Cirque Colors was one of the first polishes I ordered. They had a lucky bag sale: 5 mystery polishes for $25. I ordered the lucky bag plus one color I knew I wanted: Empire State of Mind. I was nervous that I was going to get some really ugly color, but I am very pleased with what I received!
Lynx
Lynx is a magnetic polish, so with a magnet you can manipulate the metal particles to give the polish a cool cateye or velvet look. I did not have a magnet, so this is what it looks like unmagnetized. It has a nice, leafy green base color with golden metallic shimmer throughout. It reminds me a bit of sour apple candy, but maybe that's because I went to an apple farm the week I painted my nails with Lynx.
