Notes

I feel very meh about it. It was confusing at first, being plopped right in the middle of everything, but it was kinda fun figuring out what was going on.

I made the mistake of not taking notes on who is who in the beginning and, as a result, I lost track of the characters. And there are a lot of them for a book with less than 100 pages! My review is kind of vague because I forgot most of their names, sorry lol

As a mystery novel, it is only the reader who is in the dark. Right??? Aside from the outsiders in the story, like the man and woman in the car, the main characters all seemed aware of what was going on between the baron, the baroness, and their secretary. I think there was supposed to be some sense of thrill or suspense, waiting to see if everything will go according to plan, but (SPOILER?) things do go according to plan and so The ending was??? Boring??? I was hoping for a twist. A wrench. Anything.

The writing style was casual and very dialogue-heavy, like I was reading the script of a play. Character enter stage left. Character say a few lines. Character exit stage right. I didn't realize until close to the end that the tone was supposed to be humorous. I dunno how I missed it, but I didn't find any humor in this book at all, dark or dry or anything.

I wouldn't consider it a bad book by any means. It was entertaining to read, the characters seemed interesting albeit shallow (but what was up with the nephew and aunt situation lol). I'll probably forget about it in a month or two.
