Some people don't like Grackles because they are "mean" ...and a group of Grackles is called a "plague." Why is there so much hate for Grackles I don't understand

I love them! They're very interesting birds to watch because they are quite intelligent, and their iridescent feathers are stunning in the sunlight. And that bright yellow eye? Striking.

There are eleven Grackle species, but only Common Grackles (Quiscalus quiscula) visit where I live so "Grackle" refers to that species unless specified otherwise.
